Along with iOS 15. 1 and iPadOS 15. 1, Apple has also released the watchOS 8.1 update. The first major update for watchOS 8 is compatible with Apple Watch Series 3 and later. Let’s also note that the update came a month after the release of watchOS 8.

watchOS 8.1 What’s New

  • Advanced algorithms to detect falls during training and an option to enable fall detection only during training (Apple Watch Series 4 and newer)
  • COVID-19 vaccine card support allows you to show verifiable vaccine information from Wallet
  • Always On may not display the time correctly when arm down for some users (Apple Watch Series 5 and newer)

For watchOS 8.1 update, simply go to General > Software Update menu via Apple Watch app. Additionally, your smartwatch must be at least 50 percent charged and close to your smartphone.
