The founder and CEO of the popular social media platform Twitter, Jack Dorsey, announced yesterday that he has resigned and will be replaced by Parag Agrawal, Twitter’s Chief Technology Officer. Agrawal was lynched for a tweet he sent exactly 11 years ago on his first day of office.
Some time after Parag Agrawal’s tweet, one of the users who reacted to him said that the tweet in question is a quote from the television program The Daily Show with Jon Stewart . ) also appeared to have responded to explain. However, this statement was not enough to prevent the reaction of conservative Americans.
Parag Agrawal’s tweet
“Why whites and extremists if they won’t make a distinction between them? Shall I distinguish between racists?”
US conservatives reacted to the tweet of the new CEO on October 26, 2010 . The phrase is uttered on The Daily Show at the end of a panel broadcast with host Jon Stewart and comedians Larry Whilmore and Aasif Mandvi. If Mandvi’s ” Muslims and violent extremists will not make a distinction between Mandvi’s in the program, then why are decent, cowardly whites and racists shall I take the time to distinguish between?” His words are accompanied by the audience with laughter .
Agrawal’s statements in the past did not prevent users from reacting , many people continued to react to the tweet with anger .
Examples of responses:
US Senator Marasha Blackburn: “This Parag Agrawal”
, Twitter’s new CEO and who will decide what type of conversation is allowed on Twitter “Here is the new CEO of Twitter. Things are going to get worse here, @jack is gone.”
“So Twitter’s new CEO is a racist. Why am I not surprised?”
