Telegram, with the 8.7 update, allows users to set any sound as notification tone. In fact, simply tap the file or voice message in the chat to instantly add a short audio file or voice message to your notification sound list, which you can assign to any chat.
Telegram states that it currently supports audio files and voice messages under 300 KB and shorter than 5 seconds. It is possible to assign a sound to specific chat groups or all chat groups from the Settings > Notifications and Sounds menu. If you don’t have a sound you want to use right away, you can choose from a number of options in Telegram’s Notification Sounds channel.
The app has also introduced custom mute times. Previously, you could only mute notifications for 1 hour, 8 hours, or 2 days. From now on, the update can offer you much more options. For example, you have the opportunity to pause notifications for a much longer period of time, such as 2 months. Additionally, the update offers more boosts for the auto-delete timer, which makes the messages in the chat disappear automatically at a specified time.
Telegram has also made some OS-specific changes, including improved in-app translation that supports as many languages as Telegram’s Android version on iOS. The messaging app now lets you resize the player window in picture-in-picture mode on Android, use pinch gestures to resize the window, or press X to turn off the screen.
For all this, don’t forget to update Telegram’s iOS and Android apps to the latest version.
