According to the Chinese news site NetEase’s test on the i5-12400, RM1, one of the 3 stock coolers produced for Alder Lake, will come with Core i3, i5 and i7 processors. It proves that it is effective enough to be called “good” in the test with the i5-12400.

In the news that emerged in the past days, it was known that Intel has renewed the stock coolers for Alder Lake, unlike the RM1, the RH1 and RS1 coolers will also come with entry and high-end processors. The RS1 has been designed smaller for the new Celeron and Pentium compared to other coolers. Therefore, unlike other models, it does not have a copper surface. The RH1 will only be found on i9 processors, it will have a higher profile and RGB lighting than the RM1. Also, the coolers will come with 65W and non-K processors (like i5-12400, i3-12100, i7-12700F).

When we look at the features of the RM1, we see an annular copper surface and plastic part at the bottom, a metal surface for heat dissipation around it, and finally a blue ring surrounding the fan at the top. Since the copper surface is in direct contact with the processor, more effective cooling performance is provided compared to the old stock coolers. In this way, LGA 1700 processors are cooled more accurately.

i5-12400; In the AIDA64 test, the room temperature reached 73 degrees Celsius from 20 degrees Celsius. While the processor consumed 80W in the test, the fan went up to 3100 RPM. Still pretty good values for this new stock cooler. While the previous stock coolers had a copper surface, 65-80W processors were approaching almost 100 degrees. At best they were running stable at 90-95 degrees at full load.

If the test results are correct, it’s a huge improvement over Intel’s older generation stock coolers. Since these coolers are designed for 65W processors, we will start seeing new coolers when Intel officially launches 65W Alder Lake desktop processors next year.
