In the image shared by NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), one of the smaller B variants of the LUVOIR space telescopes appears in the space of the spacecraft. According to scientists, the massive LUVOIR-A version of the telescope can barely fit into the vehicle, but the telescope will be adjustable to fit the selected vehicle. On the other hand, this telescope will not be launched for the next 20 years.
According to NASA director Jim Bridenstine, the production of NASA’s SLS rockets will be stopped as soon as possible, and the organization will focus on the US President Trump’s project to re-launch by 2024. This will open the way for the private sector to stand out in space studies.
NASA uses commercial rockets to assess the possibility of sending the Orion spacecraft and Lunar Gateway parts into space.
According to experts, NASA’s use of SLS will cost 5 to 20 times more expensive per departure (depending on conditions). That’s why SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy and Starship ships are expected to be demanded.
