Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 778G Plus 5G, Snapdragon 695 5G, the Snapdragon 680 4G and Snapdragon 480 Plus 5G chipset series.
Snapdragon 778G Plus 5G Features
The Snapdragon 778G Plus 5G is an updated version of the Snapdragon 778G introduced earlier this year. The new chipset is based on Qualcomm Kryo 670 CPU cores and can go up to 2.5 GHz. The chip claims to offer 20 percent better performance than before while using the same Adreno 642 chip. Other features are the same with artificial intelligence capabilities, 5G modem and other wireless connectivity options.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G Features
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G is a new chip and an upgrade to the Snapdragon 690. According to the company, the new chip offers support for both mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G. Offering up to 30 percent faster graphics processing and 15 percent improved CPU performance compared to the previous version, the chipset has Kryo 660 CPU cores and also comes with Adreno 619 GPU.
Snapdragon 680 4G Features
Snapdragon 680 4G is a new mobile platform for 4G smartphones built on the 6 nm process. The chip uses Kryo 265 CPU cores and has the Adreno 610 GPU. It also comes with Snapdragon X11 LTE modem. FastConnect 6100 Subsystem, Spectra 246 ISP, QC3 support. The chip is designed for budget-friendly devices that offer an FHD+ display and 90Hz refresh rate.
Snapdragon 480 Plus 5G Features
Finally, the Snapdragon 480 Plus 5G brings improvements over the Snapdragon 480 introduced earlier this year. You still get the same 8 nm process that includes Qualcomm’s Kryo 460 CPU and Adreno 619 GPU. On the other hand, you get better CPU and GPU performance than the previous model. The chipset is designed for affordable 5G phones and also includes Snapdragon X51 modem RF system, FHD+ display support with 120 Hz highest refresh rate, Spectra 345 ISP, QC4+ support.
Various companies such as HMD Global (Nokia), Honor, Motorola, OPPO, Vivo and Xiaomi are expected to launch new devices with this chipset in the coming months.
