Last year, it was said that the iPhone 13 series would support satellite connection, but this did not happen. Now, this feature is expected to be used for emergency or SOS purposes on the iPhone 14 series. Finally, it has been suggested that a cool future model of Apple Watch smartwatches may also receive a satellite link option.
Mark Gurman suggested in his latest Power On bulletin that the Apple Watch could include a new satellite link feature. According to Gurman, Apple will have equipped wearables with new functions this year or in 2023. Apple plans to launch three new models of the Apple Watch this year, and the new connectivity option could feature in at least one of them.
Recently, there are indications that Apple and its apparent satellite partner Globalstar Inc. may launch such a feature. “In February, Globalstar said it had reached an agreement to purchase 17 new satellites to power its “continuous satellite service” for a potential, unnamed customer who had paid it hundreds of millions of dollars.” says.
Apple may include the satellite link feature in the regular model and high-end Apple Watch and leave out the SE model. Last year, it was stated by Gurman that the new connection option is not ready for the iPhone. This time around, the functionality is expected to come to the iPhone as well as the Apple Watch.
