LiDAR is a technology that provides depth measurement. Apple often uses this technology for AR capabilities of devices and Portrait photos in Night Mode. LiDAR technology was incorporated into the 2020 iPad Pro, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. All of the technology in question iPhone 13 that it will also come to models there were some rumors but this seems to be no longer the case.

One of the well-known accounts on leaks @dylandkt, on Twitter, “LiDAR will only come to iPhone Pro models. Earlier this year it seemed that Apple wanted to launch all iPhone 13/12S models with LiDAR, but for some reason it won’t be this year. ” said.

Numerous reports from earlier this year indicated that Apple would add LiDAR scanners to all of its iPhones, rather than just the high-end ones. These rumors were fueled by Apple’s $410 million investment in optics company II-VI.

On the other hand, plans seem to have changed as @dylandkt claims that the technology will only come to iPhone Pro models this year. However, it should be noted that this is a leak without any official support, and plans can sometimes change until the final release of the hardware.
