The UK-based opinion research company YouGov conducted a survey of 1007 parents with children under the age of 18 in Germany. As a result of the research carried out to understand the level of smartphone usage, it was revealed that even 3-year-old babies started to use smartphones. So much so that 4 percent of the parents participating in the study were willing to let their 3-5 year old children use a smart phone. Moreover, among these parents, there are those who buy phones for their children.
This is not the only noteworthy aspect of the study. According to 50 percent of the respondents , children aged 6-11 do not have any problems using smartphones. According to 36 percent, the most ideal age for a child to use a smartphone is 12-14 .
At least follow up
YouGov’s research also revealed a positive result regarding parents. So much so that more than 80 percent of parents who have children in the 0-14 age group know exactly what their child is doing on the smartphone. As the age group increases, this situation changes slightly .
According to the research, only 62 percent of parents who have children between the ages of 15-17 rarely have any information about what their child is doing on a smartphone. The rate of participants who say that they can intervene with their children, albeit rarely, drops to 59 percent … The research reveals that parents have more work to do than ever before, but this has not been achieved.
