Some signs from Intel point to cross-platform compatibility for the upcoming Alder Lake and Raptor Lake processors. Intel’s upcoming 600-series chipset will support both Alder Lake and Raptor Lake processors, according to a document submitted to industry standard yellow committee SATA-IO.

Last month, the company submitted compatibility test results for the upcoming Alder-Raptor Lake PCH-S SATA Denedollar array to SATA-IO, an organization that tests and supports the SATA specification. The document covers Intel Platform Controller Hubs (PCH) with device IDs 7AB0, 7ACB, 7A30, and 7A4B, the company’s 600-series chip sedollar for desktop and notebook computers.

The resulting document confirms that Alder Lake and Raptor Lake CPUs can use the same chip sedollarser. This means they can use Intel’s 600 series PCHs. However, since there are different criteria for compatibility between a chipset and a CPU, it would be wrong to say that any Raptor Lake processor is automatically compatible with any Intel 600 series motherboard.
