Google is currently working on a unified share menu for the desktop version of the Chrome browser. In this sharing menu, there are options to copy link, QR code, save page as and publish. The share menu will appear in Chrome’s omnibox. However, new information in Chromium Gerrit suggests that a screenshot tool may also be found in the menu.
According to information leaked by Reddit user Leopeva64-2, there is currently a hidden native screenshot tool within the browser’s developer tools. Chrome will also add this new action to the share menu.
As can be seen in the screenshot above, the updated share menu in Google Chrome includes more sharing options than its original design, which was revealed earlier this year. When the menu first appeared, only the features we mentioned in the first paragraph were included. However, with the changes made, “Screenshot”, “Send to your devices” and “Share link” options have been added to the menu. The change also changes the plus icon of the sharing menu. Thus, the new icon is now designed in the form of a paper airplane.
The screenshot tool, which will be added to Google Chrome, will also be able to offer users the option to capture only a certain part of the screen. There are also tools for editing the screenshot. It should also be noted that there is currently no information about when the new screenshot tool will be available to users in the stable version.
