To understand the impact of containers and Kubernetes in the life of developers Red Hat assisted CCS Insights in research to explore the current state of containers. The research looks at the benefits, challenges, adoption and uses of container technology in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) regions. Red Hat shared findings based on feedback from hundreds of IT professionals in both technical and enterprise roles involved in the architecture, development, deployment, and management of software application code and services.
Applications are getting more complex and the demand for faster development continues to increase. To better respond to today’s fast-paced, software-driven markets, şirkedollarser is changing the way we design, build and deploy applications using container-based cloud-native architectures, and this trend is expected to continue. According to industry analytics firm IDC, “75% of companies will prioritize infrastructure agility and operational efficiency by 2024, resulting in a 5-fold increase in adoption of cloud-native architectures for core business applications. “These statistics are similar to the findings of another study by Red Hat. In the related research, respondents rank the most important business benefits identified for using containers as cloud adoption (33%), scalable operations (30%), and improved productivity (29%).
With this information in mind, it’s normal for container-based development to be a high or important priority for 91 percent of respondents who are directly involved in application development and deployment by generating software application code or deploying application service packages. Of those who rate container-based development as a high or important priority, 30 percent cite the need to introduce new application services, while another 19 percent turn to containers to better support departments within the company’s lineup. Given the wide use of containers in the IT industry, it also presents a professional growth opportunity for technology developers. 40 percent of respondents share that they prefer containers to advance their careers.
As container use increases, so does the need for features to support this growth. Platforms like Kubernetes that help orchestrate, automate, and manage containers play a critical role in ensuring technologies are traceable in the enterprise environment. Respondents are also aware of this because 61 percent of respondents agree that they need container orchestration services. However, 19 percent of this segment share that it is too complex to implement on their own. As a result, more than half of all respondents want container development in the company’s series to be done entirely (24%) or by a third-party service provider using a combination of service provider and in-house resources (32%).
Among the respondents, 37 percent of the decision makers or those who have a say in the choice of container-based programming technology choose their software according to container-based application goals, considering the availability of vehicle services, and 44 percent considering reputation and trust. Striking the right balance between developing and incorporating talent within the company and working with external partners, sirkedollarser is well positioned to meet the growing cloud opportunity. According to IDC, “the ecosystem of technology companies that help customers migrate to cloud environments, create new innovations in the cloud and manage their expanding cloud environments will enable enterprises to realize their accelerated programs for cloud migration. ”
Container use is highly prevalent among surveyed companies. 71 percent of the respondents say that they use container technology actively in some way. Looking at the distribution, 22 percent is used in large-scale production, 26 percent in limited production and 23 percent in pilot projects.
Containers that improve the quality, performance and security of applications, as well as powering modernization processes, are highly appreciated. 46 percent of respondents involved in producing software application code or deploying the application service series identified container-based applications as their top software development priority for the next 12 months. This is followed by improving quality, performance and security (43 percent), strengthening CI and CD processes (32 percent), improving portability (29 percent), and moving to cloud-based operations (27 percent).
With direct container programming and development experience and directly involved in the production of software application code or distribution of application service series, 34 percent of technical respondents say using containers supports hybrid IT operations as a significant development and operational benefit. The hybrid cloud is embedded in the different technologies (infrastructure, tools and applications) in the company and thus requires a versatile open platform as well as support services that can reduce complexity over efficiency and speed. According to the survey findings, respondents felt that containers offer both technical and commercial benefits that make them play an important role in providing application portability and a consistent deployment model for hybrid IT operations. Of the 524 respondents served on the topic, 43 percent say the most common types of container-based applications developed and deployed in-house are those that favor integration and consistency for internal systems and components.
The trend from this survey shows that containers are more than just a “good-to-have” technology. Container technology is an important element for sustainability and success for şirkedollarser today. In order to gain a greater competitive advantage with the increase in business advantages as well as IT capabilities, şirkedollarser is looking for ways to make more use of containers.
