According to studies based on the USA, personal data breaches increased by double digits in the first quarter of 2022.
According to the report published by the Idenity Theft Resource Center , 92% of breaches are caused by phishing and ransomware. In the remaining 154 cases, it was stated that leaks occurred for an unknown reason.
While some experts say that ITRC’s data is troubled due to the lack of transparency, it is stated that it is a great risk that so many cases are caused by an unknown reason. Still, speaking from the data, there were 40% more personal data breaches in 2022 than in the whole of 2021. Health, manufacturing, finance, public and various consultancy services were the organizations that were attacked the most.
According to ITRC chief Eva Velasquez , first quarter data is generally the lowest level of events likely to occur in a year. This means that data leaks are increasing day by day in 2022.
