Cardano continues its expansion in Africa with another partner. This time the cooperation was with the Tanzanian government.
IOHK and World Mobile took an initiative to create digital identities, mobile internet connectivity, and financial acceptance for communities in Tanzania using Cardano’s blockchain.
Collaboration of Tanzania and Cardano
The African continent, consisting of 3 billion people, has a big problem with internet connectivity. More than half of the population (700 million) do not have access to the internet. This is also the case in Tanzania. Moreover, the East African country is struggling with the quality of education, healthcare system and mobile connectivity as it lacks global connectivity.
Input Output and World Mobile Group have launched a partnership that aims to provide better access to social, digital and financial services in Tanzania through Cardano’s blockchain. In the report, it was informed that companies will start the project from the island of Zanzibar. Their main goal will be to provide quality internet connectivity while using sustainable, solar energy sources.
World Mobile CEO Micky Watkins highlighted the organization’s mission with partners from IOHK as follows:
World Mobile; Ownership, governance and identity have created a network based on a new relationship between people and connectivity, working to empower the user and make access sustainably accessible to all. I am very mudoled as I have set up this symbolic partnership with Input Output. Our efforts together will open the doors to a new world.
Cardano opening to Africa
The news comes just days before the blockchain platform using the proof-of-stake consensus announced its partnership with another African country. Cryptocoin. com, Cardano announced that they had established cooperation with Ethiopia Education. Together with Ethiopia’s educational institution, the network aims to create a blockchain-based national identity and acquisition recording system in the country.
Currently, Cardano ranks in the crypto world as the sixth largest cryptocurrency by market cap.
