The series of augmented reality (AR) effects offered with Facebook Messenger is no longer limited to individuals, but has expanded to group conversations as well. Facebook introduced a Group Effects series feature that, as the name suggests, provides AR effects for everyone in a video call.
This feature is available for both regular Messenger calls and Messenger Rooms, and will be coming to Instagram soon. If the option is turned on for you, simply tap the smiley face icon in a group call to select the Group Effectdollar series.
This innovation could help Facebook compete with Snapchat and other platforms that have had AR games for a while. It may even enable Facebook to shift its focus to the Metaverse. Shared augmented reality can help you communicate with distant friends more effectively than basic face-to-face chats.
Let us remind you that Instagram users can join the group chat in Messenger.
