It has been suggested that a mixed reality device with a high price tag may be released by Apple in 2022. Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, who made the claim, says in his Power On newsletter that the device will offer advanced chips, displays, sensor and avatar-based features.
Earlier this year, it was claimed that this new mixed reality device could cost at least $3,000, confirming what Gurman said it was expensive. Since Apple has already surprised its users with its new M1 Pro and M1 Max chips, it is thought that it is only a matter of time before the company puts all these parts together.
Gurman also discusses in the news release whether this new Apple title will focus on gaming or just augmented reality. That’s because while new Macs have one of the most powerful chips ever made, macOS is still not a great gaming platform. Apple continues to add more games for Arcade but still can’t compete with Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo.
At this point, Gurman said that the headset will have both AR and VR capabilities, and what Apple is aiming for is a mixed reality experience that can handle games in high-quality virtual reality. It is stated that the game can be played in both environments, but virtual reality is what is desired for seriously high-performance games with top-notch graphics. It is also among the information that Apple will offer a mixed reality experience for its first title that can handle high-quality virtual reality games with fast chips and high-end displays.
