Google will support women in Africa with $ 25 million. Google Nigeria Director Ehimuan stated that the coronavirus epidemic is making women’s economic power difficult.
Juliet Ehimuan, Director of Google Nigeria, made a statement on the occasion of “8 March International Women’s Day”.
She said it is harder than ever to empower women in Africa economically due to the new type of coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
Support for women in Africa from Google
Ehimuan stated that Google will provide $ 25 million in support to women in Africa as part of its new Global Impact Struggle (GIC) program.
Underlining that the GIC for women and girls focuses on changing the status quo, Ehimuan emphasized that the loss of income and lack of education are not only the side effects of COVID-19, but will negatively affect the economic progress women have made over the years.
“Women empower all communities”
Noting that women play an important role in society, Ehimuan said, “When women have the tools, resources, and opportunities to transform their potential into power, it not only changes the course of their individual lives but also empowers all communities.”
